November 2016 - The Month Ahead

This November, RuneScape's well and truly in God Mode, as an epic tale a decade in the making is finally told.

When Gielinor's greatest general struck down the god-emperor he once served, the world changed forever. And yet, this pivotal point in history has always been shrouded in mystery...until now.

It's high time for the veil to be lifted, and for everyone to know what truly happened when Zaros and Zamorak clashed thousands of years ago – and what consequences it will have for the world today.

Hold onto your lore hats - It's time for Children of Mah.

Children of Mah | Grandmaster Quest

At the start of the quest, the Mahjarrat's degenerative curse is quickening. Kharshai's on the stabbing block for an emergency ritual of rejuvenation, and he needs your help to avoid a nasty demise.

At the bidding of your Mahjarrat pal, you'll venture to the throne room of Senntisten, and relive the events of the betrayal first-hand. From there, it's back to brave the deadly wastes of Freneskae – where a grudge match six millennia in the making is waiting to happen.

With glorious storytelling and awesome rewards, this is a fitting conclusion to one of RuneScape's most famous tales, and the final stepping stone to the year's spectacular final chapter: Sliske's Endgame.

To play, you'll need to have completed The Light WithinDishonour among ThievesKoschei's Troubles and Fate of the Gods. And we may be able to help with that last part.

The Empty Throne Room | Pre-Release Skilling

For the first update of the month, there's a handy new skilling method in place to help you get a leg up on Children of Mah's hefty requirements, and to start scratching that lore itch.

A landmark breakthrough has been made at the Senntisten Dig Site. The throne room of Zaros has been found, and it's all hands on deck to uncover long-lost secrets about the greatest empire Gielinor has ever seen.

Earn up to 800,000 XP in each of Mining, Agility and Divination - gradually, kind of like in the Nexus - to get you over that 65-75 hump and help you complete Fate of the Gods before the new quest hits.

You'll also unearth tasty nuggets of lore about life in the Zarosian Empire – sure to be of interest to RuneScape history buffs.

This new skilling spot requires 65 in at least one of Mining, Agility or Divination to participate, and is the perfect prelude to the month's main event.

Bounty Hunter | PvP

Yep, it's finally here. The Ninjas are putting the final finishing touches to Bounty Hunter, and it'll arrive on the 14th of November. Check out our YouTube channel for a video preview from Mod Pi and Mod Chaose.

In Other News

The Celebration of Fire is already burning away over at Lumbridge crater, offering Firemaking, Summoning and Construction training, some red-hot cosmetics and handy Firemaking buffs. Come back regularly, and watch out for a big surprise at the end of the event.

The popular mimic boss returns this month, too, with another chance to win the tongue cape, plus a brand-new mimic plushie!

You'll see a splendidly serene seasinger's outfit on Solomon's Store, and there'll be deals aplenty when Black Friday hits at the end of the month.

That's it for November, you lovely lot. Have fun, and W00ters out.

What is a Behind the Scenes article?

Behind the Scenes is a sneak peek at the planned game updates that we hope to launch in the coming month.

This, however, is only a plan - not a promise - that a particular update will be released in a particular way or at a particular time. To get you the highest quality updates as quickly as possible, we usually keep on tweaking and testing right up until the moment before release, so sometimes things change or take a bit longer than expected. We aren't afraid to change our plan if necessary, as we will never launch an update before it is ready.
