Hey 'Scapers!
Leagues II: EQUILIBRIUM is cooking, August is underway and we're back with our regular monthly blog to cover the main things to know about the Marketplace in RuneScape for the month.
We announced this news last week already, but just in case you missed it:
We're changing the way our previously released Player-Owned House marketplace drop functions.
The above work should be completed with the 24th of August game and marketplace update. Refunds will be worked on in parallel and we will confirm when these have been sent.
But what exactly is a "Furniture Plan"!? A Furniture Plan is like a recipe or a blueprint. It unlocks the ability to build the furniture in question, though you will still need to source the materials required for it. The result of this is a new piece of standalone furniture. This is different to an Override, which changes the appearance of an existing item, even though the underlying base item stays the same.
Player-Owned House marketplace items are still very much a new area that we're exploring, but it's important to note that none of these explorations are setting a direction in stone from the get-go. Per-item sales for POH won't be part of that direction, and future POH offerings will be approached with a "buy once, unlock forever" mentality.
Generally speaking, we're also currently in a wider marketplace exploration phase - while we are still making sure to regularly deliver cosmetic outfits with an increasing level of care and quality, we are also occasionally trying out some new things and measuring their success. We always want to ensure that such experiments do find broad appeal amongst our players but have also built enough space into this process to make changes when necessary and we're maintaining an open mind that is ready to take feedback on board.
These explorations may be related to accessibility (e.g. earned-requirements), delivery mechanisms (e.g. overrides vs furniture plans) or other aspects related to cosmetics, but the intent is always to provide cosmetics that are appealing to you as our players and is sensible within the wider RuneScape play experience. Each experiment gives us greater insight here and their results will help shape this ecosystem in the long run.
The Blooming Gardens collection is the second part of this month's Player-Owned House marketplace drop and will be launching on Monday, August 17th. These overrides will add a bit of flowery fun to your Player-Owned House and are especially recommended for any green-thumbed gardeners who focus a lot of their time curating an incredible outdoor space. You'll be able to find these in the "Featured" store section.
As part of this upcoming drop we are introducing new items into the Player-Owned House - A Garden Bench and a Large Trellis Archway! These base items will be added to the general Construction skill and will be constructed at levels 25 and 65 respectively - this means that the base items are free for everyone to obtain. Their respective overrides (listed below) will be available in the marketplace as additional options and will be useable if you have built the base item and have it in your Player-Owned House storage.
Importantly, the drops in these bundles function as overrides, similar to outfit cosmetics. Furniture Plans for items that are acquired through the marketplace will work differently (explained above).
| Bundle | Member Cost | Regular Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Blooming Trellis Bundle: Rose (small trellis override) Poison ivy (small trellis override) Rose (medium trellis override) Poison ivy (medium trellis override) Rose (large trellis override) Poison ivy (large trellis override) |
360 | 400 |
| Blooming Archway and Bench Bundle: Rose (trellis archway override) Poison ivy (trellis archway override) Rose (large trellis override) Poison ivy (large trellis override) Rose (garden bench override) |
720 | 800 |
| Blooming Fountains Bundle: Rose (posh fountain override) Candlelit rose (posh fountain override) |
360 | 400 |
In the final drop of this month you can look forward to a Zarosian themed marketplace update...
Fate. Control. Dominion. From the shining spires of Senntisten's temples to the depths of its darkest dungeons, the Empty Lord sees all.
Within the Colosseum's walls, warriors and mages do battle with fearsome enemies from all across the Empire. As a masked warrior or shadow-cloaked mage, take up arms to prove your might before the crowds.
For death or glory, in the name of Zaros.
Beyond the introduction of new cosmetics, we'll also be returning the following cosmetics to the store for those of you who previously missed them:
The August 24th drop will also bring back cosmetics from the previous Expedition to the Wilderness Yak Track:
