This item is commonly used as a tank shield by low-risk and void ranger pures. The shield requires having 40 Defence to wield and is the best smithable shield currently in the game. Players that have obtained a crest from Sir Renitee are able to paint Rune shields at any Player-owned house, creating Heraldic shields. Once a shield has been painted it will become untradeable. This requires having level 43 Crafting or higher.
