Double XP is back after its long hiatus and kicks off today! In classic fashion, this is a 10-day event where you have 48 hours of Double XP to use at your leisure. The event will end May 10th. You can also pause the timer if you'd like to do other activities that aren't focused on the XP gains.
This is the first DXP event since last November and RuneScape has changed in some pretty meaningful ways since then so we wanted to give a quick round-up to help you get started. Before we recap those, here are the most important things to note about this Double XP event, which has been shaped by your feedback and our Road to Restoration goals:
From overhauls to dailyscape, combat, the early game and the UI, to major integrity changes like the removal of Treasure Hunter, your approach to Double XP may look very different. That’s alongside the release of new content, like Havenhythe, our latest area expansion.
This blog will get you up to speed on the most important changes made!

The removal of Treasure Hunter is one of the biggest changes since November. This marks a major shift away from MTX-driven progression and towards a more consistent, gameplay-first experience.
It’s important to note for those of you jumping back in for this DXP: while new Protean and MTX items are no longer obtainable via Treasure Hunter, we have not yet removed the items players already had. We’ll be doing this in early 2027, so if you’ve got Proteans, Portables, Combat Dummies, etc., now’s a good time to use them.

You may notice the game looks and feels a little different. We’ve updated the flow and design of the UI, and we’ve been making broader visual improvements to reduce clutter, improve clarity, and bring the world into a more consistent, grounded style.
Check out this newspost to find out some more on these updates.

Combat has always been a key part of RuneScape, and it’s gotten a modern makeover. Melee, Ranged, and Magic have all been refreshed to feel clearer and more intuitive, especially in the early game. We worked with the community over several betas to polish the changes and so if it’s been a while, combat should now feel more approachable without losing its depth at the highest levels.

A major focus of recent updates has been removing “Dailyscape” systems that encouraged logging in for checklists rather than focusing on your goals. There has been an extensive overhaul to a variety of elements!

After being a major pain point for players, Auras have now been removed, with many of their effects reworked and redistributed across the game. This reduces time-gated optimisation and makes your power feel like a natural part of your progression.

As part of our Road to Restoration roadmap, we're rolling out a series of rebalances across different level brackets. Starting with a rebalance to the early game aimed to address several pain points in early game training methods and smoothing out the inconsistencies in game progression.
Read more about these changes here in the dedicated patch notes.
That covers the major changes, but there’s plenty more that you’ll notice as you play. We’ve rounded things out with a range of smaller improvements and rebalances, from more predictable AFK pickpocketing in Thieving to RuneMetrics Pro now being included for all members, so you can track your progress in-game at no extra cost.
Oh and last but definitely not least:

The Road to Restoration roadmap is running alongside our content roadmap for the year, and since the last DXP event in November we have added a variety of new content across skills and levels, including:
