Beyond The Bridge - Exploring Havenhythe Part II

You've explored the shores of Amberfell, wandered the streets of Wendlewick and had your first encounters with the Sanguine threat. But you've only seen one half of Havenhythe.

Soon, the path east opens.

New villages, ancient ruins, strange inhabitants and some much more dangerous corners of the island await. With Havenhythe Part II, the full island will finally be yours to explore, with greater visual variety, higher-level requirements and an abundance of new rewards (which we'll save talking about for later).

So, before you cross that bridge, let's take an early look at what lies beyond.

Heralds of Crimson

This update brings with it a conclusion to the Havenhythe-set portion of the Sanguine quest series, with Heralds of Crimson – consider this a season finale, but not a SERIES finale.

Inanna, Anya, you (of course) and the peoples of Wendlewick race to prepare for an invasion by the Sanguine threat, as seen in Inanna's visions, orchestrated by the Ghrazi Blood Knights (we'll leave them to formally introduce themselves during the quest).

The Ghrazi are one of the great houses of Vampyrium, real hulking brutes standing taller than even Lord Drakan himself, though they carry far more elegance and grace than their stature suggests.

One vampyre in particular is already more than a bit familiar with them...

(You'll want to adjust your VO volume for this one as its concluding scenes have voice-acting!)

Berylbrook

An old fishing village, now completely blown down and fallen to the Sanguine threat. The barrier between here and Amberfell is all that stands between us and the feral, bloodthirsty werewolves that roam this area, but if you can brave the beasties, you might be able to catch a hogfish or two.

Even though now Sanguine, they still hunt with a pack mentality, sending their weaker sigmas and omegas off, huffing and puffing, into parts unknown. Be sure not to run into an alpha sanguine werewolf unprepared…

Heathervein

The third of this trio of werewolf inhabited villages, Heathervein is primarily known for its mining community, thanks to a huge stone quarry at the village outskirts. Here, you'll witness the first of a number of (unfortunately long deceased) colossi, which become more prevalent as your journey east continues.

The village has fallen somewhat quiet of late due to being cut off from the more inhabited parts of the island, but the local werewolves have been spared by the Sanguine…for the time being, at least. Isolated as they are, they're not used to many visitors, but they're welcoming of them (to a degree).

The quarry itself is protected (in a way) by an unusual figure, in the form of a giant frog named Aurora. Appease her with a gift and she might allow you to mine the stone here. Or perhaps she's just the pet of a slightly oddball werewolf miner with an odd sense of humour - it's hard to tell with this Heathervein lot.

Moonsylvar Wood

Now, we're heading into the heart of Havenhythe. Moonsylvar is a place easy to get lost in – some say the paths shift with the wind, others that whispering spiders lead travellers astray, or perhaps it's the sanguine crawlers and creepers herding the other trees around.

Whatever magic protects this place does so to hide many secrets, including the true location of Inanna's Den. What secrets will you find?

Fenmoor

This stinky bog is home to the bogolins, cousins of goblins who have adapted to life in the swamp. In terms of intelligence, they're on par with your everyday goblin (albeit bog-smart!), yet are generally friendly and non-aggressive like cave goblins.

They spend their days fishing for claret crabs and chop-chop-chopping away at petrified trees, fenn ivy and chima moss – and you'll be able to join them in a variety of new mid-to-high-level Woodcutting content. Oh, and don't forget the chimera tree!

Make sure to introduce yourself to their leader, Waterface, but be mindful of the sanguine bogolins of Globin – their leader, Bloodnose, is slightly less friendly…but perhaps you can sway her and access a couple of new farming patches for your troubles.

The molluscs here have grown quite giant, thanks to Havenhythe's history, and the bogolins use them as makeshift homes and storage spaces. There's even some lost history here that you might pick up on, as the bogolins lament the loss of sneeches (whatever those might be), a seemingly fabled character named Mama Rummertum, and lingering evidence of some sort of bog elemental…none of which seems present outside the minds of these curious people.

Shuruk-Ba

The impressive ruins of the Chimera Queen's seat of power sits under the stony gaze of an enormous colossus, its name lost to time. While this place feels devoid of life, especially in comparison with the vibrancy of other parts of Havenhythe, life still clings on in unexpected places.

Unfortunately, a lot of that life these days consists of the deadly ravenous strigoi that have invaded this space from Vampyrium. We caught a glimpse of this new foe way back in Inanna's original vision, but soon you'll be face-to-face with them, their snaking mouth-tongues reaching for your precious blood.

But in a quiet canyon deeper into this area, a place named Divine Fall, life of a different sort exists in the form of memories. Memories of many of Havenhythe's long fallen (and forgotten) colossi. With effort and patience, you'll be able to discover the fates of the colossi – how they lived, how they died, where they ended up.

A Page From Anya's Diary

There is one more glimpse into Havenhythe's story we'd like to leave you with...

Anya has been keeping some thoughts to herself. Thoughts about Havenhythe, the Sanguine... and what may be waiting for us in the east.

Perhaps her diary can tell us a little more.
