Quick Info

Difficulty: Novice

Length: Short

Main danger: None (plague suit protects from infection).

Useful travel: Ardougne teleport, Skills necklace to Fishing Guild, fairy ring D J P.

Required Items

  • 100 coins

Walkthrough

  1. Talk to Councillor Halgrive in the graveyard south of the East Ardougne church. Agree to help with the plagued sheep and receive some poisoned sheep feed.

  1. Enter the church and speak to Doctor Orbon. Pay him 100 coins for the plague jacket and plague trousers (the protective suit).

  1. Head to the large fenced enclosure north-west of the north bank in East Ardougne. Enter through the west gate while wearing the plague suit. Pick up the cattleprod near the incinerator.

  1. Leave the pen and use the cattleprod to herd the four coloured sheep (red, green, blue, and yellow) one at a time into the enclosure. Prod them in the direction you are facing. Spam-click if needed to keep them moving.

  1. Once each sheep is inside the pen near the incinerator, use the poisoned sheep feed on it to kill it. Pick up its bones.

  1. Use the bones on the incinerator to burn the remains and dispose of the plague safely. Repeat for all four sheep.

  1. Return to Councillor Halgrive and report that the sheep have been dealt with. He will give you your reward.

Herding and Disposal

Important: You must wear the plague suit at all times while herding the sheep to avoid infection. The cattleprod controls the sheep — they move in the direction you face when prodded. If a sheep says "BAAAAA!" it is moving correctly; if it says "Baa" it may wander back.

Cattleprod: Found on the ground near the incinerator. Use it on the sheep to direct them. Spam click when close to the pen to ensure they enter.
Sheep Locations: Red sheep north of the north bank; Green sheep further north-east; Blue sheep north-west of the pen (near warriors — watch for moss giants); Yellow sheep south of the Fishing Guild.
Killing & Burning: Use poisoned feed on each sheep in the pen, then collect bones and burn them in the incinerator one by one.
Tip: Herd one sheep at a time and finish it completely before starting the next to avoid confusion.

Completing the Quest

  1. After burning all four sets of bones, return to Councillor Halgrive.
  2. Speak to him to complete the quest and receive your reward.

Rewards

  • 4 Quest Points
  • 3,100 coins (includes reimbursement for the 100 coins spent on the suit)

Tips

  • Buy the plague suit early — you cannot herd the sheep safely without it.
  • Herd only one sheep at a time and complete the full process (herd → kill → burn) before starting the next.
  • Spam-click the cattleprod when the sheep is near the pen gate to make sure it goes inside.
  • If a sheep gets stuck on a corner or wall, prod it again to nudge it toward an open tile.
  • Watch out for aggressive moss giants when herding the blue sheep — stay close to the pen area.
  • This quest is required for Mourning's End Part I.
  • You can bring a friend to help body-block the sheep and prevent them from wandering back.
